# Notra Sites

> A managed blog and changelog, built from MDX files in your GitHub repository and served on your own domain.

Notra Sites turns a folder of MDX files in your GitHub repository into a hosted blog and changelog. You write posts in your repository or in the Notra editor, and Notra builds, hosts and serves them on `blog.acme.com` or under `acme.com/blog`.

<Info>
  Notra Sites is in private beta. If **Sites** is missing from the Studio sidebar, email [hello@usenotra.com](mailto:hello@usenotra.com) or ask on [Discord](https://www.usenotra.com/discord) and we'll turn it on for your workspace.
</Info>

## What a site includes

* **Git as the source of truth**: every push to your production branch goes live, and edits in Notra become a commit or a pull request.
* **A preview for every pull request**: each one gets its own link and a GitHub check, and search engines never index previews.
* **Your own domain**: a subdomain like `blog.acme.com`, or `acme.com/blog` served through a rewrite while you keep your website.
* **MDX with components**: callouts, cards, tabs, steps and your own React components.
* **No config to start**: without a `blog.json` the site builds with the standard layout, and you add one when you want your brand, navigation or analytics.
* **Search and AI agent support**: sitemaps, RSS, structured data, `llms.txt` and a Markdown version of every page.

## How a deploy works

<Steps>
  <Step title="You push">
    You push to the production branch, merge a pull request or publish from the Notra editor.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Notra builds the commit">
    Notra builds the exact commit in an isolated sandbox without network access, which usually takes seconds.
  </Step>

  <Step title="The new version goes live in one step">
    Notra uploads and checks the finished files and then switches them live together, so a failed build never touches the live site.
  </Step>

  <Step title="GitHub shows the result">
    A **Notra Sites** check on the commit links to the live site, or lists every error with its file and line.
  </Step>
</Steps>

You can restore an earlier deployment from the dashboard without rebuilding. See [Publishing and deployments](/docs/sites/publishing).

## Where Notra Sites lives in the dashboard

Switch the sidebar to **Studio** and open **Sites**, where each site has its own pages: **Overview**, **Analytics**, **Deployments**, **Domains**, **Editor**, **Integrations** and **Settings**.
